This watch is collected up in my private collection in 1991.
This 113 year old Omega pocketwatch is one of the the few examples of an Ethiopian Market watch . The dial has "Addis Abeba / Bole" written in Amahric while the back is embossed with the Crowned Lion Of Judah holding the cross scepter.
The Lion Of Judah is commonly associated with Emperor Haile Selassie so these watches are usually listed as an Emperor Haile Selassie era watches. In reality, this watch predats the Emperor's coronation by 22 years. Although i would not be surprised if these pocket watches belonged to the royal family as the Crowned Lion Of Judah was the symbol for the monarchy.
