Sold with original very rare handwritten Ethiopian postcard with Ethiopian stamps and with the signatures of the doctors mentioned on the vase.designer: Chris Lanooy, Epe and the size are 25 cm.

Dark brown jug with one ear. On the belly a medallion with text, two coats of arms with a lion (Netherlands and Ethiopia) and nine 'seals' with professional emblems and text: physician-leader Winckel, administrator de Vries, D.A.H.M. Colaco-Delmont, physician-nurse Lampe, nurse Hagestein, nurse Van den Honing, physician Veenenklaas, physician Van Der Does, surgeon Van Schelven. inscription, in medallion: ‘Netherlands Red Cross Ambulance to Ethiopia under the command of DR. Ch. W. F. Winckel Arts, 3 December: 1935 from Rotterdam 23 December to Addis Abeba.’On October 2, 1935, Italy invaded Ethiopia. The jug was made to commemorate the dispatch of a Dutch Red Cross ambulance to Ethiopia on December 3, 1935.
